Sailboat Skippers - If you're a boat owner comfortable with maneuvering in tight quarters under sail, and want to come race, great! If you’re
new to racing, this is a great way to get your feet wet.
• Please read up on the right of way rules e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Racing-Rules-Sailing-
Through/dp/1938915410, because those are very important for the safety of your boat and others.
• Sign up to Race on Jibeset.net by making an account and registering at: https://jibeset.net/IYC000.php?RG=T008206319.
Race Committee Volunteers - Come down to Alameda Marina dock 800 by 12:00 PM. Please read the "cheatsheet" (below).
You'll probably start on flags, so pay extra attention to that material.
cheatsheets.pdf
Observers - If you'd like to just watch, please come to the end of Alameda Marina dock 800 by 12:45 PM.
Questions - Race Committee Volunteers are happy to answer questions when they're not busy, but they have an important job that requires
exact timing, and may ask you to hold questions until later.
Quiet Please - It is especially important to remain relatively quiet on the race deck during the starting sequence. Bring a folding chair, water
and snacks, and some layers to be prepared for changing weather conditions.
After Racing – Meet at the Boathouse Tavern on the corner of Clement and Stanford Street, for awards and camaraderie. **If you’re looking
for a Crewing opportunity, that is a great way to meet Skippers.**

• After Racing, Alternate – Meet at Alameda Yacht Club at Fortman Marina, Dates TBD.

Come on down and enjoy a fun day on the Estuary by Racing, helping with Race Committee, watching, or just joining in on the fun
afterwards.
Thank you for supporting Island Yacht Club!
Santana 22 Team Racing!!
Island and Encinal Yacht Clubs are excited to launch a team racing series for Santana 22s in the Estuary. Team racing is a great way to rapidly get better at boat handling and the rules. Team races are short (around 10 minutes) and tactical: the challenge is not getting your boat around the course, it's using your boat to help your teammate's boat pass boats of the opposing team. Since not everyone is familiar with the team racing rules, we plan to have an educational kick off seminar on a Thursday evening before the first race. Race documents will be posted at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1SoDsSyNT8x6gT1ibSXHzQXPu15F2dRWu

If you cannot race, consider helping us run a race!
Volunteering on RC is a great way to learn more about racing "from the other side," to meet people, and to help. See roles you can fulfill here.
For the studious, or the curious, we've created a manual with guidance on running races, now officially released as version 1.0:
