Be part of the most friendly sailing, boating & social club on the Alameda Estuary.
IYC was founded in 1970 by a group of sailboat racers who wanted to offer the best possible value in a yacht club. We are an all-volunteer, non-profit club open to anyone interested in boating.
IYC members enjoy reciprocal privileges at yacht clubs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. IYC also extends a warm welcome to yacht clubs that grant reciprocity to our members. While we presently do not have a clubhouse, we are continuing our search for a new home. Meanwhile, we are able to offer opportunities for our members to gather through our relationships with other clubs and establishments.
Our focus is on learning, racing, and enjoying the Bay together; we are for boaters who seek camaraderie and fellowship without pretense.
IYC sponsors several key sailboat races on the Bay and Estuary: the Jill and Jack + 1 Race, the women skippers Sadie Hawkins Race, and both Island Days Sunday beer can series (Winter) and Island Nights Friday evening beer can series (Spring and Summer). We are also involved in the South Bay Bridge Series and the Estuary Extravaganza.
In addition, IYC is the founder and host of the Northern California Women’s Sailing Seminar (WSS). The WSS offers two full days of sailing instruction, with classes taught both on and off the water -- by women, for women. Nothing more exemplifies IYC’s commitment to making sailing more accessible and fun for everyone.
Membership dues for the calendar year are just $100 per year, with no initiation fee for new members!
Join our all-volunteer club today and start enjoying reciprocal privileges at PICYA member yacht clubs, a year-round racing calendar with member discounts, monthly events, eligibility for our Shared Boat Program, and Tuna Tuesdays, and access to a diverse community of local sailors.
Take advantage of this membership special while we're not paying rent on a clubhouse; dues are likely to go up at a later date!
