22nd Annual NorCal Women’s Sailing Seminar, Sept 20-21
Island Yacht Club will hold its 22nd Annual Northern California Women’s Sailing Seminar on Saturday & Sunday, Sept. 20-21, and it’s all about women teaching women how to sail.
This fun, relaxing, educational and inspiring weekend is the only one of its kind.
Top women sailors from the Pacific Coast volunteer their expertise to provide instruction in workshops that occur in the classroom and the water. Local sponsors donate exciting and valuable items for the seminar’s lunchtime and cocktail hour raffle Sept. 20.
On Saturday, Sept. 20, participants select from a variety of “tracks.” The “tracks” range from beginner, through boat ownership and offshore cruising. Women often return to advance their skills from basic sailing as beginners through troubleshooting and fixing engine problems.
On Sunday, Sept. 21, participants choose between a real sailboat race on the Oakland Estuary or a cruise on San Francisco Bay. Participants enrolled in two-day tracks continue their practice sessions on San Francisco Bay.
