      Summer 2016

Dear Valued Sponsor,

Island Yacht Club, a non-profit all volunteer organization, is excited to once again host the Northern California Women’s Sailing Seminar, now in it’s 24th year. Upward of 130 women participants and instructors are expected to gather for this two day seminar held September 24-25, 2016.

Classes are taught on and off the water, topics tailored to the skills of our attendees, from the first time sailor to advanced racers. This event is unique to Northern California and to date is the only seminar designed exclusively for women, taught by women. We had a most impressive turn out in 2015, participants from all over the San Francisco Bay area and Northern California benefited from the generous contributions of our sponsors.  Our attendees feed-back has been most enthusiastic!

Looking to the future, NC WSS has an even larger goal of reaching out to those who would benefit from the message “Capture The Power”. Northern California Women’s Sailing Seminar and it’s home organization, Island Yacht Club, would like to be able to use your donated resources to provide even more services to Seminar Participants;  instructor support, educational materials, participant meals, day trip supplies to those boat owners generous enough to donate the use of their vessels, in addition to providing a budget for scholarships to benefit those participants who have need.

The 2016 Women’s Sailing Seminar seeks contributions at the following levels

December Events at IYC

We’re not done yet! Celebrate the holiday season at Island Yacht Club. This Saturday December 6th is the 38th annual Lighted Yacht Parade on the Alameda Estuary. Club member Joel Sailer will be donating the use of his boat again this year for our parade entry. Come to the club during the day on Dec 6th and help decorate the boat. Then jump aboard that evening and join the parade. Last year was a lot of fun, and some pics of our 2013 boat are attached. If you’d like to participate or for more info, Contact John New @ 510-529-8227.

The following weekend, Sunday Dec 14th, is the second race in our long running Island Days series. IYC will be hosting an informal holiday gathering after the race. I’ll be serving some treats from the galley, and members who plan to attend are encouraged to bring food potluck style as well. This event will start around 2:30pm.

Mark your calendar for our upcoming 2015 events as well. The club will do its annual “around the island” cruise on January 1st, and our annual Crab Feed will be held on Saturday January 17th. Stay tuned for more announcements on the Crab Feed. I think we put on one of the best in the Bay Area for the price and once again this year, I’ll be serving my famous roast garlic crab & Asian style chili garlic crab. Don’t miss out!

2015 Member Dues Renewal Reminder

IYC Members,

It’s that time of year again. Just a friendly reminder that your 2015 membership renewal is due by January 1, 2015. Island Yacht Club’s dues are still only $375/year for regular memberships and $187.50/year for cruising memberships. You still won’t find a better value in Yacht Clubs anywhere in the Bay Area. If you’re one of the many new club members who joined us in September 2014 or later, no dues are owed for 2015.

I hope all you long time members will renew your memberships at IYC again this year. Memberships are the foundation of any club, and we depend on your continued support to allow us to provide you all the benefits of a great Yacht Club, and continue to be an asset to the Bay Area sailing community.

Dues payments may be made through this website (click on the membership tab), or you can mail your check made payable to Island Yacht Club to the club address: 1853 Clement Ave, Bldg 14, Alameda CA 94501

Thanks for your support!
