A little bit of our history and mission:
Our club was founded in 1970 as an affordable, all volunteer yacht club.
We are affiliated with United States Sailing Association, the Small Boat Racing Association, the Yacht Racing Association of San Francisco and the Pacific Interclub Yachting Association.
TRADITION
For over 30 years now, Island Yacht Club has remained one of the more active yacht clubs in the San Francisco Bay area. We have established a strong club founded on friendship, activity and common interests. Island Yacht Club provides many opportunities for members; racing, cruising, social, community service, and all for an affordable price.
RACING PROGRAM
Members of the Island Yacht Club can participate fully in the incredible sport of yacht racing. Since Island Yacht Club is a member of the Yacht Racing Association of San Francisco Bay, our club members may take part in all association races. We also host a wide variety of our own sailing regattas, including the SILVER EAGLE RACE, the DOUBLE HANDED LIGHTSHIP RACE, several races skippered by women only, and our intimate and fun FRIDAY NIGHT TWILIGHT RACES.
WOMEN'S SAILING PROGRAM
Island Yacht Club has an active women's sailing program for women who enjoy sailing or would like to learn more about the sport with regular dates reserved for women's sailing and events like the NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WOMEN'S SAILING SEMINAR© to assist women at all levels.
PRIVILEGES AT OTHER CLUBS
Members of the Island Yacht Club receive a warm welcome at most Pacific Interclub Yacht Association Member facilities. Our members proudly hoist our burgee and find that much of the yachting world is theirs.
SOCIAL LIFE
Island Yacht Club makes every effort to be within the budget of every boater. This means our rented facility does not have such "landlubber extras" as a heated pool, tennis courts or a full service restaurant. This also means we are not burdened with a large mortgage payment or devastating maintenance and operating costs for the membership to share. Our time and efforts are devoted to boating, friendship, and a myriad of social events.
