Years and years ago we celebrated a crab feed. My parents (still alive and well) were members in the club and woke up very early in Walnut Creek so they could be at the club with all the other helpers. Max and I arrived later and found them on the back deck of IYC cracking crab. This would go on for hours. There were a lot of other long time members helping, too. We dragged a table out to the deck, loaded it with crab and proceeded to rinse off all the salt water and excess juices. Later we would rest and wait for dinnertime. Then the salad was made and the dinner prepared for all the people. At that time we only had the upstairs with only the outside stairs to get from first floor to the second floor. Downstairs was a storage area for Svendsen's Chandlery supplies. There were no stairs on the inside of the building. Like I wrote it was an all day event with a few hundred people showing up for dinner. A great time was had by all.
